BankAmerica Corp. Buys $612 Million Of Card Receivables from 1st

BankAmerica Corp. said last week that it had completed the purchase of $612 million of credit card receivables.

The deal was announced in December. Terms were not disclosed.

The receivables came from First Omni Bank and Dauphin Deposit Bank, both units of First Maryland Bancorp, Baltimore.

BankAmerica said the receivables will be folded into its credit card unit, Bank of America NA, Phoenix.

Bank of America said it would also "provide a full range of consumer credit card products under the First Maryland brand name to First Maryland's customers and service accounts on an ongoing basis."

BankAmerica is the nation's fifth-largest bank holding company, with assets of $260 billion and deposits of $172 billion.
