Suffolk Bancorp Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Suffolk Bancorp, Riverhead, N.Y., the holding company of Suffolk County National Bank, appointed John F. Hanley president and chief executive officer.

He succeeded Edward J. Merz, 65, on Jan. 1. Mr. Merz remains chairman of the bank and holding company.

Mr. Hanley, 50, will continue as president and CEO of Suffolk County National Bank, posts he has held since Jan. 1, 1997. Before that he had been executive vice president and chief administrative officer and, earlier, senior vice president in charge of consumer lending.

Raymond A. Mazgulski, 73, will remain vice chairman of both Suffolk Bancorp and its principal subsidiary.

Suffolk Bancorp has $833 million of assets.
