Harris Financial Hires Pearson Of PNC to BePresident, CEO

Harris Financial, Harrisburg, Pa., the parent of Harris Savings Bank, hired Charles C. Pearson Jr. to be president and chief executive officer.

Monday, he succeeded James Durrell who had begun serving as acting president in late September after William J. McLaughlin announced his resignation. Mr. Durrell has returned to his previous posts, executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Mr. Pearson was president and CEO of PNC Bank Corp.'s central Pennsylvania region, comprising 60 offices in 13 counties. Before that, he had been president and CEO of United Federal Bancorp, State College, Pa., which PNC bought in 1994.

Harris Financial has $2.1 billion of assets.
