In Brief: N.Y.'s USB Holding in $34M Tappan Zee Deal

USB Holding Co., Orangeburg, N.Y., said last week that it has a deal to buy Tappan Zee Financial Inc. for $33.8 million of stock.

Tappan Zee, based in Tarrytown, N.Y., has $126 million of assets and one branch.

The deal is expected to be completed during the third quarter.

"This is an opportunity to expand our presence into the very important Westchester County marketplace," said Thomas E. Hales, chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer of USB.

USB, which has about $1 billion of assets, operates 20 branches in two counties, including Westchester.
