Short Takes: Four Join CIBC's High-Yield Operation

CIBC Oppenheimer Corp. is continuing to build its corporate finance business. The high-yield unit, under the helm of Jay Bloom, Andrew Heyer, and Dean Kehler, has brought four new bankers under its wing in recent weeks.

Fotis Hasiotis, who has been a director in leveraged finance at Bankers Trust New York Corp. since 1989, has joined CIBC as a director. Jonathan Wigser, also hired as a director, was with First Union Capital Markets. He also spent three years in investment banking at Lehman Brothers Inc.

Joining the group at the associate level are David Sommer and Kevin McLeod. Mr. Sommer spent the last three years at J.P. Morgan & Co. as an associate, while Mr. McLeod had been an associate at PaineWebber since 1996 and earlier worked in mergers and acquisitions at Chase Manhattan Corp.

The new hires will report to Mr. Bloom, Mr. Heyer, and Mr. Kehler.
