Merrill Senior VPJoins EFTA Board

The Electronic Funds Transfer Association has added a Merrill Lynch & Co. executive to its board.

Allen N. Jones, the securities company's senior vice president and director of private-client marketing, was one of five newly elected directors. The association, which historically has focused on electronic banking and payment issues, said Mr. Jones' involvement indicates how its interests are broadening.

"Participation in EFTA within traditional industries like ATM manufacturing, information processing, and banking remains robust," said executive director H. Kurt Helwig. "However, the association's growth is coming from emerging entrants into this field, such as Merrill Lynch."

The other new directors are Lynne B. Barr, partner, Goodwin, Procter & Hoar LLP; Rita L. Champ, senior vice president and general manager, Fujitsu-ICL Systems Inc.; Marcia J. Donner, senior vice president, Wells Fargo Bank; and William W. Neville, president of the TotalPlus division, Bisys Inc.
