Chase Hires J.P. Morgan Executive To Lead Global Real Estate Practice

Chase Manhattan Corp. has hired Peter Bacile, a real estate pro from J.P. Morgan & Co., to head its global real estate practice, the banking company announced Tuesday.

Mr. Bacile, 36, replaces Joseph DeLuca, who left Chase in January after more than 22 years at the company and its predecessors, Chemical Banking Corp. and Manufacturers Hanover Corp. He began work Tuesday and reports to James B. Lee, vice chairman and head of global investment banking.

At Morgan, Mr. Bacile was co-head of real estate investment banking for the Americas. He had worked there since 1986.

Last July, Chase integrated its real estate group with its investment banking effort, moving it from a separate line of business to a specialized industry group within the investment bank.

Managing directors Steve Plavin and Ben McGrath have been co-heads of the real estate finance industry group since Mr. DeLuca's departure.
