In Brief: BankBoston Names 2 In Emerging Markets

BankBoston Corp. has announced two senior management appointments in its latest bid to expand emerging markets operations.

William Overholt, the well-known former head of Asian research at Bankers Trust New York Corp. in Hong Kong, has been hired to head emerging market research in Asia. Closer to home, Daniel C. Peirce, formerly chief strategist at the bank for emerging market research, has been named managing director and global head of emerging market research.

Mr. Overholt reports jointly to Mr. Peirce and Anthony Loh, who was recently hired as regional head for Asia. Mr. Peirce will report to Christopher Smith and David Dali, co-heads of emerging markets sales, trading, and research.

BankBoston noted in a release that the two latest moves round out an effort to establish an integrated worldwide operation for emerging markets. The bank said its Asian capital markets team is now complete following a string of hirings that added 14 additional Asian market specialists.
