Compass Bank Taps Three as Senior VPs in Retail Delivery

Compass Bank, Birmingham, Ala., has named Carl E. Crosby, Burdett R. Johnston, and Chris E. Sakaguchi to newly created senior vice presidencies in retail delivery.

All three will report to James D. Barri, executive vice president of retail delivery.

Mr. Crosby had been a manager of direct retail lending. He will now be the director of community development for major metropolitan markets in Alabama, managing CRA officers in Huntsville, Montgomery, Mobile, and Birmingham. The job makes him responsible for developing retail banking strategies in low- and moderate-income areas.

Mr. Johnston and Mr. Sakaguchi came from Bank of America Oregon in Portland, as had their new boss, Mr. Barri.

Mr. Johnston, who was senior vice president of retail operations and systems support, will be manager of Compass' retail operations, in charge of such issues as service quality.

Mr. Sakaguchi, who was a vice president and district financial relations manager in Oregon, will be Compass' metropolitan retail sales manager.

Compass Bank is the principal subsidiary of Compass Bancshares.
