Chief Exec Now Chairman Too At Provident Of Jersey City

Provident Savings Bank, Jersey City, said president and chief executive Paul M. Pantozzi has become chairman as well.

He succeeded Kenneth F.X. Albers, 71, who retired from the $2 billion- asset bank.

Mr. Pantozzi, 53, joined the bank in 1963 as a teller trainee. He was promoted to vice president of branch administration in 1977, senior vice president in 1982, corporate secretary in 1986, president in 1989, and CEO in 1993.

Mr. Albers joined Provident in 1965 as vice president and assistant to the president; he was promoted to president and CEO in 1968.

When Provident bought Bloomfield Savings Bank in 1983 he was elected chairman.
