Citizens Bank Of R.I. Promotes Credit Executive William K. Wray

Citizens Bank of Rhode Island, Providence, the principal subsidiary of Citizens Financial Group Inc., has promoted William K. Wray, its vice president of credit administration, to an executive vice presidency.

Mr. Wray's responsibilities are unchanged. He supervises the corporate credit departments at the Rhode Island bank and the three others owned by its parent: Citizens Bank of Massachusetts, Citizens Bank of Connecticut, and Citizens Bank of New Hampshire. He is also responsible for commercial real estate appraisal, environmental risk management and risk policies, compliance, and CRA administration.

He came to the Rhode Island bank in 1993 from Shawmut Bank.

Citizens of Rhode Island has also promoted Stephen E. Adamo to general manager of its Citizens Mortgage Corp. Mr. Adamo had been vice president and New England sales manager since 1996; before that he was sales manager for the bank, which he joined in 1995 from North American Mortgage.

In addition, three vice presidents at the Rhode Island bank have been promoted to senior vice president. Charles R. Byrnes 3d remains in charge of asset/liability management. William F. Granchelli, vice president of special assets since joining the bank in 1993, will now head portfolio administration. And James S. Powers remains in charge of risk management in the consumer finance division.

Finally, Citizens Bank of Connecticut hired Fleet Financial Group executive Dean Ryan as senior vice president and manager of corporate banking. Mr. Ryan had been a senior vice president and team leader for Fleet's Connecticut shoreline region.

Before that he had jobs at Marine Midland Bank, Chemical Bank, and BayBanks Inc. where he started his banking career in the corporate banking training program.

Citizens Financial is owned by Royal Bank of Scotland and Bank of Ireland.
