In Brief: Citi Mortgage Subsidiary Gets Acting President

Citicorp has named David Lowman acting president and chief operating officer of its mortgage unit. Mr. Lowman succeeds Richard Thornberry, who left last month.

Mr. Lowman, who was director of mortgage servicing, is among candidates being considered for the position permanently, sources at the St. Louis mortgage company say.

Separately, correspondent lending chief Don Daniel has left, a spokeswoman for the banking company confirmed. A successor has not been named, she said.

Citicorp Mortgage, one of the nation's biggest lenders and servicers, has been experiencing executive upheaval since Mr. Thornberry resigned. That departure was followed two days later by the resignation of capital markets chief Jerry Halbrook.

Mr. Lowman, like Mr. Thornberry, Mr. Daniel, and Mr. Halbrook, joined Citicorp Mortgage two years ago. The executives came from Prudential Home Mortgage after it was bought by Norwest Mortgage.
