In Brief: Colonial Group Exec Joins Scudder Kemper

Scudder Kemper Investments, Boston, has hired a new head for its global bond investing group.

Helen Frame Peters has joined the firm from Boston's Colonial Group, Scudder announced this week. Ms. Peters will be responsible for managing the fixed-income assets for mutual funds, including the Scudder, Kemper, and AARP portfolios, as well as for the firm's institutional clients and the captive assets of Zurich Group.

Edmond D. Villani, Scudder Kemper's chief executive, had been running the company's global bond group on an interim basis since December, when the merger between Scudder, Stevens & Clark and Zurich Group closed.

Ms. Peters had been chief investment officer of Boston-based Colonial since 1991, where she supervised the management of about $17 billion of fund assets. She has also worked at UBS Securities and Merrill Lynch & Co.

Scudder Kemper has more than $200 billion of assets under management.
