National City Veteran to Run 1st of America's Lead Bank

Paul Clark has been named president and chief executive officer of the lead bank of First of America Bank Corp., which Cleveland-based National City Corp. bought in March.

First of America Bank, based in Kalamazoo, Mich., will be renamed National City Bank of Michigan/Illinois on Oct. 31. Mr. Clark will be responsible for operations in those states.

Mr. Clark had been National City's executive vice president of retail banking in Pittsburgh since 1995, and was executive vice president of corporate banking in Cleveland from 1987 to 1995.

Richard F. Chormann remains chairman of First of America Bank and a National City Corp. vice chairman.

Salvatore "Sam" F. Gianino was named executive vice president of corporate banking and David G. Lucht executive vice president and chief credit officer of First of America Bank.

Mr. Gianino was president and CEO of National City Bank's northwest region, in Toledo. Before that he was executive vice president of the corporate banking group, and earlier a senior vice president in the commercial lending division.

Mr. Lucht had been senior vice president in credit administration in Louisville since 1995.
