Tech Bytes: Former Individual ExecHired as Valicert VP

Valicert Inc., a Silicon Valley company with technology that assures the validity of digital certificates in Internet commerce, has named Robert L. Ross vice president of business development.

Mr. Ross has more than 10 years of experience in business and strategy development, six of them at Individual Inc., which offered systems for customized delivery of on-line information. He worked more recently at Marimba Inc., the "push" technology company, and earlier in his career at Apple Computer Inc.

Valicert president and chief executive officer Yosi Amram, who founded Individual Inc. in 1989 and ran it until 1996, said Valicert expects to draw on Mr. Ross' "ability to think strategically and forge key deals and partnerships." He "brings a unique blend of business, technology, and marketing experience," Mr. Amram said.
