In Brief: National City Expands Private-Client Group

National City Corp., Cleveland, last week promoted two executives to new posts in its private-client group and filled a vacancy.

Allen E. Loomis was promoted to executive vice president. He will retain responsibility for National City's regional private-client group in Akron, Ohio, which he has held since April 1996.

But as executive vice president, Mr. Loomis will also have expanded management responsibility, working closely with group executives in the Toledo, Dayton, and Columbus markets.

He will report directly to Jeffrey M. Biggar, executive vice president in charge of the group.

National City also named Brian J. Anderson senior vice president and regional private-client group executive for the bank's southwest region, based in Dayton. He had been sales manager for the private-client group in Dayton, where he was responsible for business development and marketing.

Mr. Anderson takes the job previously held by Katherine Hollingsworth, who was recently named president and chief executive officer of the southwest region.

The company also named Susan M. Fairchild vice president for the private-client group in the Cleveland region. For the past three years, she has been a manager in retirement plan services at National City Trust.

"Basically the group is expanding," said company spokesman Dan Shingler. "New people are coming in below them, so they are being given more responsibilities."

National City's private-client group, established in 1996, offers affluent clients financial consulting, investment management, private banking, and fiduciary management.
