In Brief: NBS Technologies Elects Chase Veteran to Board

Charles R. Walsh, who retired in 1997 as executive vice president and head of Chase Manhattan Bank's worldwide credit card business, has been elected to the board of NBS Technologies Inc.

Ken Kivenko, president and chief executive officer of the Canada-based payment services and point of sale systems company, said the appointment took effect in April when Richard J. Schmeelk left the board.

Mr. Walsh headed credit cards for 23 years at Chase and at predecessors Chemical Bank and Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. He is also a retired director of MasterCard International, and served on the boards of Chase Manhattan Bank USA, Chase Insurance Agency Inc., and Eastern States BankCard Association, and on the American Bankers Association's government relations council.

He earned a bachelor of science degree from Fordham University and a master's in business administration from St. John's University in New York.
