Belgian Firm Joins GlobeSet Software Partnerships

GlobeSet Inc. has added a Belgian company, Element, to its list of Secure Electronic Transaction software partnerships.

The arrangement is typical of the OEM-original equipment manufacturer- approach that has made GlobeSet a significant international provider, under other companies' labels, of systems complying with the MasterCard-Visa SET 1.0 specifications for Internet payments.

Element, founded in 1998, is part of a major Internet portal organization in Belgium. It has developed payment software for the Proton smart card network and is incorporating GlobeSet technology into its Commerce Suite for on-line commerce.

The agreement with GlobeSet "corresponds perfectly with our desire to offer and implement a secure electronic commerce infrastructure," said Element managing director Ronny Leplae. "We have chosen GlobeSet because it is the only company in the world that has been awarded SET marks for all of its applications required for secure transactions over open networks."

In December, GlobeSet announced general availability of one of those applications, Gateway 1.3, which links on-line payments to legacy processing and authorization systems. It was the first gateway software to get SET 1.0 certification.

GlobeSet has also announced OEM deals with payment service providers in Germany, Japan, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, and other countries.
