In Brief: 3 Execs Get New Roles In J.P. Morgan Shakeup

Three top J.P. Morgan & Co. executives have shuffled jobs this week.

John A. Mayer, 59, the firm's chief financial officer since 1995, will head J.P. Morgan Capital Corp., the company's private-equity arm. Before becoming CFO, Mr. Mayer had run the global investment banking group.

Peter D. Hancock, 40, became Morgan's new CFO on Tuesday. He will continue to be chairman of the risk management and capital committees, duties he assumed Jan. 1. Previously, he had headed the global fixed-income business.

Brian Watson, 46, who has headed Morgan Capital since 1995, is returning to his native Australia to manage Morgan Capital's activities in the Asia- Pacific region. With a portfolio of more than $1 billion, Morgan Capital includes the firm's proprietary private-equity investments and co- investments by select Morgan clients.
