Tech Bytes: Ingersoll-Rand, LCI Join Biometric Group

The International Biometric Industry Association has added two members: Ingersoll-Rand and LCI Technology Group.

The association was formed last September to promote biometrics such as fingerprinting, hand patterns, voice recognition, and facial or eye scanning as privacy-enhancing techniques. Member companies include leaders in the field such as Iriscan Inc., Miros Inc., and Keyware Technologies Inc.

"The addition of these key members shows how quickly the industry is maturing," said association board chairman William W. Wilson of Recognition Systems Inc.

Ingersoll-Rand, a diversified industrial company, is Recognition Systems' parent. LCI of the Netherlands produces the SmartPen wireless signature authentication tool.
