In Brief: An Upbeat Outlook For a Unit of Wilshire

Wilshire Financial Services Group's credit unit is well positioned to grow once Wilshire emerges from bankruptcy, according to a review by Fitch IBCA.

Wilshire has plans to acquire additional servicing assets after it finishes its restructuring and has adequate management and staff, the ratings agency said. Wilshire Financial Services Group Inc. filed for bankruptcy in April, but Fitch IBCA said the servicing staff in Portland, Ore., would not be affected.

Fitch IBCA's review of Wilshire's collections and default management functions found the processes to be "consistent with pre-bankruptcy levels."
