Card Briefs: Diebold Unit Sets UpSales Arm in Canada

Diebold Inc.'s Canadian subsidiary will begin selling automated teller machines and other products directly to Canadian financial institutions.

Terminating a distribution agreement with IBM Canada, Diebold said it has added sales, marketing, and service staff in Canada during the past year and will finish the transition this year.

"We are in a position now where we can provide our Canadian customers with our complete family of self-service solutions," said C. Neil James, managing director of Diebold Canada.

Of 34,000 Diebold ATMs shipped last year, 2,200 went to Canada.
