In Brief: Servicing Portfolio At Chase Tops $200B

Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corp. said that its mortgage servicing portfolio surpassed $200 billion in 1998, making it only the fourth servicer to pass that mark.

Chase Mortgage added $90 billion of loans in 1998. After runoff, new loans totaled $38 billion during the year.

BankAmerica Corp., Norwest Corp., and Countrywide Home Loans also have servicing portfolios larger than $200 billion.
