Card Briefs: New Software Offered To Assist Call Centers

First Data Re-sources Inc. has developed new customer service software, part of what it calls its Empowered Systems Platform, with Pegasystems Inc. of Cambridge, Mass.

The software helps customer service representatives at call centers perform multiple tasks without having to toggle among computer applications.

The first client of First Data to use the system is Partners First, the joint card management venture of BankBoston Corp. and Bank of Montreal's Harris Bank subsidiary.

The system is "a flexible application that can be adapted to meet rapidly changing business needs," said James Kissane, project manager for Partners First. "We have been able to incorporate our marketing strategies right into the system."
