MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Summit Bancorp of Princeton, N.J., has promoted Elaine Fettig to executive vice president of its strategic support division, Summit Service Corp.

Her duties are unchanged; she heads operations and technology for all lines of business at the $32 billion-asset holding company.

Ms. Fettig, who was a senior vice president, continues to report to Alan Posencheg, president and chief executive officer of the unit.

She started her career in 1984 as a systems project manager at City Federal Savings Bank in New Jersey. She joined Citicorp as a project manager in 1988 and came to United Jersey Bank, Summit's predecessor, in 1989. Ms. Fettig was promoted to senior vice president of 1996, when United Jersey bought Summit and took its name.
