In Brief: Integration Consultant Hires EDS Veteran

Ciber Inc., a major systems integration consulting firm, has recruited Paul E. Rudolph from Electronic Data Systems Corp. to be its chief operating officer.

Mr. Rudolph, 41, had been with EDS since 1979 and since 1996, as president of its electronic business unit, he spearheaded electronic commerce activities.

His unit nearly doubled in size since he took the helm, overseeing card processing and consumer network services as well as e-commerce.

Mac Slingerlend, Ciber's chief executive officer, said the hiring was "a major coup. Paul is squarely on the bulls-eye of emerging leaders in the new ways business will be done in the coming decades."

Mr. Rudolph said Ciber, which has 6,700 employees and $800 million in annual revenue, "is an emerging global leader" in information technology services. "Ciber has a foundation that makes it among the most exciting places to be in this industry," he said.
