In Brief: HSBC to Rename U.S. Holding Company

HSBC Holdings PLC is renaming its U.S. holding company.

HSBC Americas Inc. will become HSBC USA Inc., effective June 28.

The unit's principal subsidiary is $34 billion-asset HSBC Bank USA, which changed its name from Marine Midland Bank on March 29. The latest move is part of a branding initiative to unite the bank's global units under a single name.

The HSBC Group has more than 5,000 offices in 79 countries and territories and had $483 billion of assets as of Dec. 31.
