In Brief: Hypercom Gets Orders From Singapore, Turkey

Hypercom Corp. has announced orders for equipment and software from clients in Turkey, Singapore, and Uruguay.

The company said it has sold 10,000 point of sale terminals and 52 integrated enterprise networking nodes to IsBank of Istanbul. Hypercom said it has sold 25,000 terminals to IsBank in the last two years.

"IsBank and Hypercom are working very closely together to bring the latest international transaction processing solutions to the Turkish market," said Rob Meli, managing director of Hypercom Europe.

Hypercom also said Citibank Singapore would use its Ascendent Advanced Transaction Processor software to back up its merchant authorization system. The Citigroup unit, which processes 1.2 million payments a month, would use the Hypercom system during the main authorization network's downtime.

Hypercom also is supplying 1,000 card payment terminals and smart-card- enabled PIN pads to POS2000, a new company in Uruguay. Based in Montevideo, the company is composed of major Uruguay acquirers, including VisaNet, MasterCard, Oca Card, PlataCard, Diners, and Cabal. It was established to expand the Uruguay POS terminal network and deploy new payment products throughout the country.
