Summit on the Logistics of Extending Trading Hours

Securities regulators will hold a summit meeting June 30 to examine issues raised by the possible extension of securities trading hours.

The Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Association of Securities Dealers Inc., and the New York Stock Exchange will host the meeting with various industry groups.

Representatives from alternative trading systems, stock exchanges, clearing organizations, and consumer groups are all scheduled to participate. The Nasdaq-Amex Market Group recently voted to extend trading hours, though no date has been set.

Following the summit, the groups will form working committees to address issues including investor protection and education, clearance, settlement, and operations, the SEC said.

The summit will not be open to the public, a SEC spokesman said.
