In Brief: 3 Keyboard Makers To Use Biometric ID

Biometric Identification Inc. said it has agreements to supply fingerprint verification modules to three terminal keyboard manufacturers.

The companies are Ingenico of France, which makes point of sale terminals, and the specialized keyboard makers Key Source International of Hayward, Calif., and Tipro of Ljubljana, Slovenia. They are among more than 50 companies integrating Biometric ID devices.

The company's Ridge Recognition technology evolved out of security work for the Department of Defense and is one of several biometric techniques that are moving toward mass-market deployment as costs come down.

Biometric ID has a pending agreement to sell 45% of its equity to Biometric Security Corp. of Vancouver, British Columbia.
