In Brief: B of A Names Chief of Consumer Card Unit

Bank of America Corp. on Thursday named Kenneth E. Kido head of its consumer credit card division.

Mr. Kido has been leading the strategic planning division of the card services business, which includes consumer and commercial cards, automated teller machines, debit cards, smart cards, and BA Merchant Services, the card processor. He will retain that role and take on additional responsibility for Bank of America's platinum, gold, classic, and cobranded credit cards.

He reports to G. Patrick Phillips, head of card services.

Mr. Kido was a longtime executive at Seafirst Bank, which Bank of America bought in 1996. In 1997 he joined Bank of America's Asia retail banking group in Hong Kong, where he developed card products for Asian markets.

With $20 million in card loans, Bank of America is the fifth-largest bank card issuer in terms of receivables.
