Card Briefs: First USA Rolls Out 'Austin Powers' Card

People who relish unusual credit cards will surely welcome the Austin Powers Limited Edition Titanium Visa.

First USA is issuing the card, which helps promote the recently released movie, "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." The product is a result of a partnership between the Bank One Corp. subsidiary and New Line Cinema. First USA called it "the first Visa credit card to be associated with the launch of a blockbuster comedy."

The card comes with a teaser rate of 2.9%, a standard rate of 10.99%, and an optional picture of the movie's star, Mike Myers. It "offers entertainment in an unexpected place, and lends a hip and edgy feel to a conventional product," said Gary Marino, executive vice president of marketing at First USA.

After people use their card once, they get a free videotape of the original Austin Powers movie, including "extra scenes never seen before," according to First USA.

Applications are available through the usual channels and at Loews Theatres.
