Calif. Firm in Internet Bill Payment Market

PayMyBills.com announced it would introduce a personal Internet bill management service on July 19.

Similar to existing offerings from Cyberbills Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., and Secure Commerce Services of Princeton, N.J., PayMyBills.com will enable consumers to view and pay all of their bills on-line. The companies receive customers' paper bills directly, then scan them to create electronic versions.

PayMyBills.com will charge consumers $9.95 per month to pay 15 bills. That compares with monthly fees of $8.95 from Cyberbills and $7.95 from Secure Commerce's Paytrust service for the same number of bills.

PayMyBills is promoting an arrangement with Travelers Property Casualty, a unit of Citigroup, that will provide insurance protection of up to $100,000 against unauthorized on-line transactions for PayMyBills customers.

The company has funding from Idealab, the Pasadena, Calif.-based venture company that supported eToys, GoTo.com, and CarsDirect.
