In Brief: DLJ Unit Feeds Customers Dow Jones News

DLJdirect Inc., the on-line brokerage service of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Inc., has begun providing stories from Dow Jones News Service to selected customers.

The agreement is the first in which an on-line brokerage transmits news from Dow Jones' Newswires unit in real time, according to DLJdirect.

DLJdirect will have on-line investing stories sent to customers who maintain a minimum account balance of $100,000 or have accrued $1,000 of trading commissions during the preceding 12 months.

The brokerage will pay Dow Jones a fee for each customer who gets the stories.

As a preview, it will offer the service to all of its customers for 30 days.
