Gruntal Hires Everen Official For Expanded Equities Division

Gruntal & Co. in New York has hired Everen Securities executive Edward E. Dunleavy as the executive vice president of its newly expanded equity division

Mr. Dunleavy, 55, was head of U.S. equity and capital markets for Everen. He was based in Chicago.

In his new job, which he is the first to hold, he will oversee Gruntal's research, investment banking, syndicate, domestic, and institutional sales divisions.

He will be a Gruntal director and a member of the firm's management committee and will report to Lee Fensterstock, president and chief operating officer.

Gruntal also hired Sutro & Co. executive John Eislee as a senior vice president and a regional manager in its private client group.

Mr. Eislee, who is also 55, was an executive vice president at San Francisco-based Sutro and the director of its private client group.

He will oversee 13 Gruntal branch offices in Chicago, Boston, Long Island, Connecticut, Florida, and New York, and will report to Henry Gottmann, executive vice president of the private client group.

Gruntal also promoted three New York executives.

Joanne Marren, executive vice president and general counsel was also named to the newly created post of chief administrative officer.

Senior vice president Rosemary Johnson, who was chief administrative officer of its private client group, was named chief financial officer. She will report to Ms. Marren.

Steve Byers, treasurer, was also named chief administrative officer of Gruntal's capital markets group.
