In Brief: Free Investment Service Access by Microsoft

Microsoft Corp. has introduced a new version of MoneyCentral, the personal finance section of its Microsoft Network.

It now offers free access to investment services previously available only to 55,000 paying subscribers. And the new version lets customers receive and pay bills on-line through Transpoint, which is jointly owned by Microsoft, First Data Corp., and Citigroup.

It is the first implementation of the Transpoint service, said Ed Graczyk, lead product manager of MSN MoneyCentral. MoneyCentral also has teamed up with the research firm Dalbar Inc. to help consumers get in touch with financial advisers screened by Dalbar.
