Short Takes: Wachovia Appoints Head of Brokerage

Wachovia Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C., has named a new head of its brokerage unit.

Terri G. Powell, 37, is to manage the investment counselor program for Wachovia Investments Inc., a spokesman for the $65.5 billion-asset banking company said. She was the North Carolina state manager for Wachovia Investments.

Ms. Powell succeeds Forrest C. Childers, 38, who is now the manager of treasury services sales in Wachovia's cash management group, the spokesman said.

Wachovia Investments has 160 full-time investment counselors who sell mutual funds, annuities, bonds, and insurance products, primarily to bank customers.
