Cleveland's Nat City Appoints Head of Corporate Banking

National City Corp. on Wednesday named William Cornett Jr. senior vice president and head of the corporate banking division.

Mr. Cornett relocated to the company's headquarters city, Cleveland, on July 19. He has directed corporate banking for the National City Bank of Kentucky subsidiary since 1995.

He succeeds Anthony Crisalli, 40, who left the $84 billion-asset company this month to go into business for himself, Mr. Cornett said.

Mr. Cornett, 53, is to oversee corporate banking product development and management and the division's overall sales effort.

One priority, he said, will be developing electronic-commerce capabilities in corporate banking. "National City is seeking to become more aggressive in new technologies, particularly the Internet," he said.

Mr. Cornett has worked at the company since 1969, when he joined what was then known as First National Bank of Louisville.

National City also named Stephen Stitle, 53, the chairman of National City Bank of Indiana, president and chief executive of the unit. He succeeds J. Christopher Graffeo, who is in long-term rehabilitation from a March illness.
