In Brief: Internet Firm Names Financial Services Exec

Proxicom Inc., an Internet systems and consulting company, has named Steve Tempini senior vice president of its financial services division.

Mr. Tempini, formerly of Merrill Lynch & Co., is based in New York and responsible for global financial industry strategy.

He was previously first vice president and senior director at Merrill Lynch, where he managed the more than 1,800 professionals in the international and domestic enterprise technology services division. Mr. Tempini also oversaw global initiatives that ranged from trading-floor and back-office support to orchestrating the firm's worldwide Internet and intranet services architecture.

His background, which includes technology stints at General Electric Co., "speaks for itself," said Raul Fernandez, president and chief executive officer of Proxicom.

"As we witness a convergence of the financial services industry and see a fundamental shift from brick-and-mortar, a global strategy to serve the marketplace becomes ever more critical," Mr. Fernandez said. "Steve's extensive experience allows us to see around the curve as we move toward this global financial services environment."
