Short Takes: Putnam Offers C Shares on 32 More Funds

In February the Boston-based fund company added C shares on 14 funds; it now offers 49 funds with level-load shares, which entail a 1% deferred sales charge only if the shares are redeemed in the first year.

The C share expansion was effective July 26. Putnam is targeting the shares at financial advisers who provide fee-based asset management rather than charging up-front sales commissions.

Putnam manages $320 billion for individual and institutional investors.
