In Brief: Senior Exec Steps Down At Associates 1st Capital

Thomas R. Slone has retired as Associates First Capital Corp.'s senior executive vice president of consumer finance.

In announcing the retirement, which took effect Monday, the company said that it plans to divide his responsibilities between two executives. Walter B. Copeland will lead the home equity business, and Matthew L. Hollingsworth will lead the consumer branch network. Both will be promoted to senior executive vice president.

Mr. Slone, who joined the Associates in 1967, will become a volunteer executive with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Mr. Copeland came to Associates in 1976 and was president of the information systems division for the past four years.

Mr. Hollingsworth joined Associates in 1986 and has managed consumer units of the company's domestic and international divisions.
