Citigroup Hires Urban Investment Booster To Run Community Development

Citigroup has hired Andrew Ditton, a longtime community development advocate, as director of its newly formed Center for Community Development Enterprise.

The center was established last fall as part of a $115 billion pledge made to community groups by Citicorp and Travelers Group, which merged in October. The center has earmarked $6 billion in loans and investments over 10 years to create jobs, support small businesses, develop affordable housing, and finance nonprofit community centers in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.

Mr. Ditton, who is based in New York, reports to Pamela Flaherty, head of Citi's global community relations group. Most recently he ran his own real estate development business, focusing on affordable housing. He also spent 13 years at Local Initiatives Support Corp., a nonprofit organization that helps local community development groups find funding to redevelop urban neighborhoods.
