In Brief: GE Capital to Acquire Japanese Leasing Corp.

GE Capital has agreed to acquire the leasing businesses of Japanese Leasing Corp., one of Japan's oldest general leasing companies.

Under the terms of the agreement, announced Saturday, GE Capital would acquire Japan Leasing's equipment leasing assets, sales and customer service network, and back office operations. Japanese Leasing would retain its name.

GE Capital would also acquire operating assets of two affiliated companies-Japan Leasing Information System, a software development and maintenance company, and Japan Leasing Business Service, an administration company.

Separately, GE Capital, the Stamford, Conn.-based financial services arm of General Electric Co., has agreed to acquire Japan's second-largest auto leaser, Japan Lease Auto, and its auto maintenance subsidiary, Japan Lease Auto Service.
