First Union Capital Markets Corp Names Executives

First Union Capital Markets Corp. in Charlotte, N.C., has hired a senior executive from a Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce unit as a managing director.

Thomas J. Gallager will be in charge of First Union's defense, aerospace and technical services industry group. He will report to John Papadopulos, the co-head of corporate finance in First Union Capital Market's investment banking division.

Mr. Gallager was a managing director and executive of the transportation, aerospace, and defense investment banking group at CIBC World Markets. He was responsible for delivering capital-raising and advisory services to small, midcap, and large corporate clients. Earlier he was at Chase Securities in New York, and still earlier at Bankers Trust there.
