Short Takes: Prudential Site Offers News, Terms on IPOs

Prudential Securities Inc. has combined its client and general-public Web sites and added access to information on initial public offerings.

The changes took place last Thursday.

The IPO service, called New Issues, is available only to members of the Prudential Advisor program. That program, introduced in May, separates transaction fees from financial advisory fees.

The New Issues service provides summaries and prospectuses of IPOs and other securities offerings underwritten by the New York-based brokerage. Prudential Advisor clients can use e-mail to request additional information from a financial adviser, and they will eventually be able to transmit trading instructions the same way, a spokesman said.

The service also features an alert system that tells clients when IPOs become available.

In addition to New Issues, Prudential's site now offers real-time interest rates, 20-minute-delayed stock quotes, and research summaries.

Prudential Securities is a subsidiary of Prudential Insurance Company of America.
