Deutsche Unit Hires 8 from State Street

Deutsche Asset Management Americas said Thursday that it hired eight investment professionals from State Street Corp.

The eight are part of a team of 10 hired by the $580 billion asset management arm of Deutsche Bank to help bolster its index and active quantitative investment unit.

The former State Street Global Advisors professionals include Joshua Feuerman, who had headed international quantitative equity investments at SSGA, and Dean Barr, head of SSGA's Advance Research Center. SSGA manages $574 billion.

Deutsche's announcement comes nearly two months after it lost a five-member quantitative team to Merrill Lynch & Co.

"They didn't decimate the entire team," said a SSGA spokeswoman, adding that most of the staff losses were in sales and research.

Michael C. Schoeck succeeds Mr. Feuerman, she said, and Mr. Barr's position will not be filled. -- Niamh Ring
