B of A Site Adds Student Banking Section

Bank of America has added to its Web site a Student Banking Center with interactive tools and information designed to help students plan their education and manage money.

Sections like Your Money 101 cover such fundamentals as writing and endorsing a check, depositing money in a bank account, and balancing a statement. The bank suggests strategies for stretching dollars, strongly recommending that students prepare a budget and follow it.

A College Budget Planner offers a worksheet for tracking expenses. There are also a cost planner for anticipating the cost of a college education and a borrowing planner for students who may need a loan.

"We designed our student center on the Web to make personal finance easy to understand, easily accessible, and appealing to young people," said Kathy Cannon, senior vice president and head of the Bank of America Student Banking Group.
