In Brief: Minneapolis Bank In Grocery Stores

four-branch expansion into suburban Twin Cities grocery stores.

TCF, the lead bank of $10.3 billion-asset TCF Financial Corp., has added branches to Cub Foods stores in Bloomington, Burnsville, Fridley, and Plymouth since July 1, the company said Tuesday. That brings the bank's total number of Minnesota supermarket branches to 37. About 44% of TCF's Minnesota branches are located in supermarkets.

Erin Radan, director of in-store branches for TCF, said the company's supermarket branch strategy is designed to make TCF more accessible and convenient for suburban customers. The branches stay open past 5 p.m., for example, which is unusual in the Twin Cities market, she said.

"We understand what customers want from their bank when they're shopping for groceries," she said. -- Laura Pavlenko Lutton
