Tech Bytes: TD Waterhouse Hires Lehman Tech Exec

TD Waterhouse Group has appointed Richard J. Rzasa executive vice president and chief information officer.

Mr. Rzasa was senior vice president of information technology at Lehman Brothers, where he was responsible for private client services and institutional support. He managed Lehman's European Monetary Union conversion in London.

At TD Waterhouse, the world's second-largest discount brokerage, Mr. Rzasa will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, and management of technology that serves more than two million customers.

"His mandate is to ensure that our technology delivers not only the most reliable, but also the most innovative customer service," said Stephen D. McDonald, chief executive officer of the Toronto-Dominion Bank subsidiary. "He will also play a key role in continuing our international expansion."

TD Waterhouse in June completed an initial public offering for about $1 billion, the largest IPO of an Internet-related company and the 14th-largest in New York Stock Exchange history.
