Standard Federal Names Executives

Standard Federal Bank in Troy, Mich., has named William J. Beckham, a former assistant Treasury secretary, to its board.

Mr. Beckham took the Treasury post in 1977 and became a deputy transportation secretary 1979 . He had been executive assistant to the late Sen. Phil Hart, D-Mich., from 1965 to 1971, and deputy mayor of Detroit in 1974.

In 1981 he joined Unisys Corp. in Detroit. In 1983 the company named him vice president of corporate communications, a title he held until leaving in 1996.

Since then he has been president and chief executive officer of New Detroit Inc., a coalition that works to improve race relations in the Detroit area. He is leaving that post at yearend to become chief executive officer of the Skillman Foundation, a philanthropic organization.

Standard Federal is a $19 billion-asset subsidiary of Dutch ABN Amro Holding.
